Chance to help tackle climate change in your homes and neighbourhoods
25/06/2021
Exciting news! This week we have written to 1,500 customers across the borough giving you the chance to get involved in a new tenant jury and help tackle climate change in your homes and neighbourhoods.
We’re working with the Northern Housing Consortium to launch the Social Housing Tenants’ Climate Jury. Thirty tenants from First Choice Homes Oldham and four other northern housing associations will come together as a jury to consider how residents, social landlords and others can take action against climate change.
Shared Future, one of the UK’s leading experts in organising citizens’ juries, will be organising and running the jury sessions.
We have sent letters to a randomly selected 1,500 customers inviting them or members of their household aged 16 years+ to register their interest in the Social Housing Tenants’ Jury. We will also be promoting the opportunity through our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Of those customers who register to take part, Shared Future will then select six people from each housing association to make up the jury. Members will be broadly representative of the profile of social housing customers across the North of England.
The Tenants’ Jury will meet over 30 hours starting on the evening of Tuesday 27 July and finishing on Tuesday 28 September with a two-week break in August.
Everyone who takes part in the jury will receive £250 in vouchers as a thank you for their time.
