Check out our updated Safeguarding Policy

15/11/2021

It’s National Safeguarding Adults Week and this year the focus is on ‘creating safer cultures’. Promoting safer cultures is all about how organisations and individuals can take steps to minimise harm occurring in the first instance. At the same time, it means ensuring correct policies and procedures are in place which is why we’re pleased to report our refreshed company safeguarding policy is now live.

The updated policy includes ‘safeguarding guidance’ – something that was previously separate, which is great as it means all safeguarding resources are now grouped into one accessible place.

Other changes include updates which reflect recommendations of the Local Children and Adults Safeguarding Board frameworks such as:

  • More information on how we record and monitor safeguarding information
  • Reference to other polices, statements and procedures such as those around vulnerable customers, antisocial behaviour (ASB), modern slavery and human trafficking, and the disclosure barring service procedure

Bev Bertenshaw, Community Impact Manager and one of our Safeguarding Leads, said: “Here at FCHO we know that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Being a landlord is more than just bricks and mortar. All our customers and colleagues have a right to be safe and happy and live lives free from the risk of abuse and all of our colleagues hold an element of responsibility when it comes to the welfare of our tenants."
