Energy efficiency in the spotlight at West Vale

18/01/2022

As part of Big Energy Saving Week we’re sharing news of our plans to make new build homes at West Vale sustainable and deliver upgrades to existing homes in the area, so that everyone benefits.

New eco homes

All 88 new homes at the West Vale scheme are planned to achieve an Energy Performance Certificate A - the most energy efficient rating in terms of likely fuel costs and carbon emissions.

To achieve this, we will be using the latest green technologies and we’re currently looking at various options including air source heat pumps, battery storage and more to minimise the homes’ impact on the planet and help keep customers’ bills down.

Improvements to existing homes

We know how important it is for us to invest in existing homes alongside progressing with the new build development. We’re currently exploring ways we can improve energy efficiency in properties in the area to help residents save energy and money, now and in the future. There is a lot of work in the pipeline and more details will be shared soon.

Joel Owen, our Director of Development said: “West Vale will be a sustainable development and our teams looking after the new build and regeneration work are considering a variety of factors in their plans - from energy consumption and carbon emissions to waste management, biodiversity and more. These interventions will benefit customers, the local community and play a role in helping to tackle climate change – all things we are passionate about.”
