Residents are celebrating taking their first step on the housing ladder, as they move into new homes for shared ownership in Stalybridge.

The eight new high quality, energy efficient, four-bedroom houses at the Grassmoor development has been delivered by Fabric Living – our shared ownership and sales brand.

The build, situated on Sean Dawson Way, has transformed a former brownfield site to make home ownership possible for more people and is part of our plan to deliver 700 new properties in Oldham, Rochdale, Tameside, Kirklees and Calderdale between now and 2026.

We have partnered with Greater Manchester housebuilder, KMM Homes on the project, which was completed in the autumn, and the first homebuyers got their keys in November.

Joel Owen, our Director of Development said: “These great new homes are part of our continued investment in creating new affordable, sustainable properties in Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire.

“As in many other areas of the country, demand for affordable housing in Tameside outstrips supply and high prices mean many local buyers struggle to secure a place of their own. We are building developments like this one and offering a range of tenures to make home ownership an option for more people.

“The high level of response to the Grassmoor scheme shows we have built the right product in the right area, and I wish all the new homeowners the very best for the future.”

The new properties in Stalybridge are the among our latest affordable new-build homes.

To help us keep up momentum on supply of new properties, we currently have 268 houses and apartments under construction across eleven development schemes in Oldham, Rochdale and Kirklees and we are on track to take handover of 144 homes in the financial year ending March 2023.
