Protect yourself from bogus callers

28/03/2022

We have received reports that some of our customers are being targeted by cold callers falsely claiming to be from First Choice Homes Oldham and asking to discuss issues with repairs at their home.

These people are visiting customers’ homes and/or putting leaflets through doors saying they can help claim compensation, or a rent rebate for outstanding repairs.

They tell customers that FCHO could try and evict them if they start a claim and are advising customers that they should not speak to us about the issue. This is not true.

We also have reports that callers are asking customers to sign paperwork including legal forms, without fully explaining what these documents are.

Our advice is that you do not let these people into your home, talk to them or feel pressured to sign any paperwork.

Contact us if you have any issues with your home or any repairs that you need to report

Here at First Choice Homes Oldham, we want to do all we can to support our customers. Please contact us if you have any issues with your home or any repairs that you need to report.

Please report any outstanding repairs immediately and we will arrange for them to be completed.

Responding to cold callers or their leaflets and then making a claim for outstanding repairs at your home, starts a legal process. Once a claim is underway it can take up to 12 months to resolve. During this time you can only log emergency or priority repairs for your home until the outstanding repairs work is completed. You can’t log any new non-emergency responsive repairs as they can affect the legal parts of the claim.
