Spike in Covid-19 cases across the St Mary's area of Oldham

As we know, the number of Covid-19 cases is rising across the country, so more extreme restrictions are due to come in across whole of Britain from Thursday 5 November 2020.

In Oldham, we have seen a significant spike in cases in St Mary's. Specifically, the Barker Street, Burnley Street and Egerton Street areas, so from Tuesday 3 November 2020, we’ll be supporting Oldham Council in their community engagement work to try to help bring infection rates down in these areas.

FCHO staff will join teams from Oldham Council for a series of doorstep engagement activities in the area. This will involve talking to you (from a safe distance), helping to signpost you to any support you might need and highlighting the importance of following the guidance to keep you and your families safe. Doorstep testing may also be available for some residents.

I appreciate someone being available to speak to, but I’m worried about answering the door…

• Don’t worry, everyone will be observing social distancing and wearing the appropriate PPE. All PPE and safety equipment has been provided by Oldham Council specifically for this task, to make sure that everyone involved will stay safe.
