Tanners Fold development partner supports local Salvation Army

20/09/2022

Positive social value news! The housebuilder who is delivering our Tanners Fold development is giving back to the community with a donation to the Salvation Army Fitton Hill branch.

The team from Middleton-based, J Walker Homes has donated £150, plus a £150 Amazon voucher to the church and charity which is based in the neighbourhood local to the new-build scheme.

Jon Walker, Director at J Walker Homes recently presented Graham Rogers, Salvation Army Community Worker with the contribution. It will be used to support an activity day and buy a selection of board games for the Salvation Army’s Dad’s Group, set up to help local fathers to socialise while their children enjoy play time together.

Joel Owen, our Director of Development says: “We want to make a positive and lasting impact on communities through our work and we’re delighted to be partnering with a contractor which shares our values. The Salvation Army does a tremendous job making a difference to local people and improving lives and I’m pleased to see this donation go to excellent use.”

This charitable donation to the Salvation Army is the latest in J Walker Homes’ work to create social value while delivering affordable new homes for our Development team. Last Christmas they donated vouchers worth £300 plus bags of toys to our Christmas gift collection. At the Royley housing scheme, completed in June 2021, the firm generated apprentice roles across a range of construction trades and spent 49% of its build costs with local businesses. And recently, the housebuilder gave our own apprentices, Amy Fielding and Cody Bentley the opportunity gain experience working on new build homes at our Tanners Fold scheme.

Our development partner Middleton-based, J Walker Homes has donated £150, plus a £150 Amazon voucher to the Salvation Army Fitton Hill branch as aprt of its social value work on our Tanners Fold housing development.
