Tenant evicted after making neighbours’ lives a misery

07/12/2021

A Failsworth tenant who has made neighbours’ life a misery has been evicted from his FCHO home.

Gary Brookes, aged 32 of Old Rd, Failsworth was evicted from his flat for breaching his tenancy agreement with a catalogue of antisocial behaviour (ASB) incidents.

Disturbances were a common occurrence at Mr Brookes’ property, often resulting in violence, noise nuisance and emergency services having to attend regularly.

Martin Dawber, Community Legal Officer in our Legal Services Team said: “Eviction is always the last resort – it’s never something we want to do and we will always look at every avenue to resolve issues before we take legal action.

“The tenant had caused nuisance and inflicted years of ASB on the local community and we could not allow him to go on living in one of our homes. We’re committed to working with customers and partners to address these issues in our neighbourhoods.

“I hope this case sends out a clear message: we take reports of ASB very seriously, we will act to protect the interests and safety of those who live in our homes and the wider community, and perpetrators will be dealt with.”
